Apple Autopilot Technology Patents Frequently Appear On The "Apple Brand" Car On The Road?

Recently, Apple's actions in smart cars and autopilot are frequently reported in newspapers.

According to media reports iPhoneHacks, apple is studying safer and more reliable autopilot algorithms. Apple's new patent shows that its algorithm can use vehicle LiDAR (LIDAR) and other sensors to obtain data. IPhoneHacks said Apple Corp's new autopilot patent is quite complex, but it tends to make the whole system more secure.

Not long ago, public information showed that Apple had announced 70 patents related to it, including vehicle related systems, autopilot and other related patents, including motors, suspension systems, lighting, vehicle navigation and so on.

There are also reports that Morgan Stanley analyst Katie Huberti (Katy Huberty) expects that Apple Corp will invest nearly $19 billion in vehicle research and development this year (about RMB 130 billion yuan).

Apple has always invested heavily in the industry, and it can be costly to the auto industry. In fact, Apple's long journey from mobile phones and other electronic products to cross-border vehicles has already begun.

It is reported that in 2013, Apple launched the "iOS in the car" plan, announced to enter the automotive field; in 2014, the plan renamed "CarPlay", it is Apple's vehicle system, and has been working with many international car factories. Apple also has a smart car oriented project, "Project Titan", as to the direction of building an apple brand or developing software and hardware solutions. Apple has not disclosed it to the outside world.

"Apple's ultimate goal is to develop" vertical integration solutions "in automotive technology. Previously, Katie Huberti has said that the final battle of the car will be a competition of vertical integration solutions.

At present, apple, HUAWEI and millet mobile phone companies are more in the field of vehicle networking and automatic driving solutions. For example, in April of this year, Xiaomi invested in the vehicle networking enterprise, Botai, and HUAWEI's HiCar solution. Last year, its eco partners exceeded 30 depots.

HUAWEI has been involved in a wider range. Last month HUAWEI announced that its autopilot operating system kernel (including virtualization mechanism) successfully obtained the highest level functional safety certification in the field of Safety (ISO 26262 ASIL-D), becoming the first ASIL-D operating system kernel in China. This means that HUAWEI will enter the automotive market from the operating system, vehicle system, hardware MDC (mobile data center), communication module and other hardware and software levels.

Why do we all cross cars? On the one hand, of course, it is to expand new businesses. The core mobile phone business competition has long been hot and can walk on many legs. On the other hand, AI is the trend of the times. In the application scenario of AI, the car is a larger area of the scene. Apple, Google, BAT, HUAWEI have already accumulated a lot of intelligent technology. Moreover, the cost of their crossover is lower than that of the new vehicle directly crossing the traditional vehicle to automatic driving. So, you will see a series of technology companies pouring into the automotive industry, and the car factory is also willing to cooperate with technology companies.

Of course, the new reality is that the auto industry is a highly industrial chain, and the upstream and downstream suppliers at all levels are working closely together. There are no thorough enemies in the ecosystem. Different types of enterprises play different roles and are relatively stable.

Apple is ambitious, but it is not easy to provide a brand new ecosystem. Hardware vendors and software vendors have taken up positions in the main positions of vehicle networking and autopilot. Hardware manufacturers include traditional car manufacturers, new representatives, Tesla and semiconductor suppliers. Software vendors include Google, BAT giants, and a range of start-up companies in the vertical field. The next car networking and autopilot market will also face uninterrupted competition.
